Manual therapy is a method to cure musculoskeletal diseases withouth surgary or medical treatment.
It is a high-level diagnostic and therapy method to address problems of the spine and the extremities.
It focuses on treating the causes and not the symptoms and thus reaching long-lasting improvement in patient’s conditions. The treatment starts with a thorough orthopaedic examination of the patient. We examine patient’s posture, the possible deformities and assymetries, the shape and range of movement of the spine, the vertebrae, the amplitude of extremities, the condition, strenght and flexibility of muscles.
It is important to map the patient’s habits concerning work, hobbies, sports, diet and liquid consumption.
This is a complex therapy:
it contains preparatory soft tissue techniques, massage strokes, then the appropriate movement of the joints is restored by various mobilising and manipulative techniques. The improvement reached is stabilised with special exercises aiming to improve the strength and flexibility of the muscles. The patient is given advice concerning ergonomics at their workplace (where to place desk, chair, monitor, keyboard and mouse) and how to lift things in a way that is gentle to their spine. A recommendation on sports activities is also provided by our manual therapist.
